W&W Produce

George Allen met with dozens of friendly folks at the famous W&W Produce in Stuart, VA on his way to Martinsville.  He first met the owner Worley when he was running for Governor  and  always enjoys stopping in whenever he is in Patrick County.  The people at W&W were concerned about the impact rising gasoline prices were having on their monthly budget and grocery bills.

Roanoke Area Veterans Forum

It was a privilege and an honor for me to speak to the veterans in the Roanoke area – not as a member of their ranks – but as a Virginian and an American who feels tremendous respect for the sacrifices that our veterans and their families have endured to protect our country and our freedoms.

We must have the will, the skill, & the firepower to keep America strong for Freedom – and America should always keep our promises to our veterans for the benefits and health care they have earned. It’s not an entitlement, it’s a promise.  I have pledged to always fight on behalf of veterans and their families to honor their enduring, consistent service to America, commitment to their community and to the defense of our Country.  Click here to read my Compact with Veterans: Honoring the Men and Women Who Stand Strong for Freedom.

George Allen Speaks At The Montgomery County GOP Monthly Lunch in Blacksburg

Thank you to the Montgomery County GOP for inviting me to speak at their monthly luncheon!  I always enjoy hearing from our strong A-Team members in Blacksburg, and especially the active and engaged Virginia Tech College Republicans, who will be instrumental in helping spread our positive message of pro-jobs-growth solutions for America’s Comeback.  Read more about my visit to Blacksburg in this article from the Roanoke Times below, and click here to see more photos: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150579848251705.379732.299306621704&type=3

Roanoke Times: Senate Hopeful Allen Touts his ‘Comeback’ Plan

By Mike Gangloff                                            -                                      February 17, 2012

BLACKSBURG — Former Virginia Gov. George Allen pitched a “blueprint” of increasing domestic energy production, strengthening the military and requiring the federal government to balance its budget as he campaigned Thursday for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

“Other than national defense, I’d like to see the federal government stay out of our lives and out of our business,” Allen said, bringing cheers from a lunchtime audience of about 100 people at a Montgomery County GOP gathering.

Allen is seeking the seat that he lost in 2006 to Democrat Jim Webb, who is retiring from the Senate.

This year’s contest — one that will be closely watched nationally — is a battle between governors; former Gov. Tim Kaine is the presumed Democratic nominee. Kaine warranted few mentions during Allen’s lunchtime talk.

U.S. Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., was named about as often as Kaine. Neither was invoked anywhere near as many times as President Barack Obama, who Allen said headed an administration that was “distant, remote” from the concerns of most Americans, yet intrusive “into a mess of things that are none of their business.”

Speaking about his “Blueprint for America’s Comeback,” Allen drew his biggest audience response with mentions of “Obamacare.” Audience members booed as Allen cited health care reform as a prime example of government meddling in the private sector. Cheers erupted as Allen said, “I want to be the deciding vote to repeal ‘Obama-care.’”

Tuckahoe Republican Women’s Club Meeting

Surprised by my brother in law, Bruce Allen, when I got to the Tuckahoe Republican Women’s Club meeting.  The ladies had a great handle on the issues facing our country and are ready to spread the word about George in their communities, through Ambassadors for Allen.

Fraternal Order of Police – Thompson Hall Lodge

It was invigorating to be back at the Thompson Hall Lodge with so many good friends and outstanding law-enforcement officers.  Charlottesville and the Commonwealth of Virginia are fortunate to have so many hard-working, dedicated and tireless law-enforcement officers.

We’ve been working together for a long time — since my days in the House of Delegates – to keep our community and our families safe.  Safe neighborhoods and safe communities matter a great deal in attracting jobs and investment.

DelMarvaNow: Allen lays out blueprint for US comeback

By Gloria Bradley

CAPE CHARLES — Republican U. S. Senate candidate George Allen visited the Eastern Shore Wednesday speaking with citizens about issues and his economic plan, “Blueprint for America’s Comeback.”

Allen began the day visiting small businesses in Cape Charles personally speaking with individual business owners, employees, town officials, and members of the community.

“The highlight of the entire campaign,” said Allen to a chorus of 49 students in grades Pre-K through 8 from Cape Charles Christian School singing “This Land is Your Land” at his first stop, Rayfield’s Pharmacy.

Other stops included Cape Charles Coffee House, Watson’s Hard-ware, Sullivan’s Printing and Office Supplies, and a stop at the construction site of the Cape Charles Hotel.

Allen spoke to this paper about Shore assets, challenges and solutions.

“The whole Allen family loves the Eastern Shore,” said the former senator and governor of Virginia, commenting on its natural beauty and the unique character of the Shore saying “each community has its own distinct heritage and history.”

Allen said the Eastern Shore has many small businesses and “that is where most of the jobs are created.”

He recognized the economic importance of industries including agri-culture, seafood, tourism, and poultry.

“Tourism is clearly a key revenue generator,” said Allen.

Allen said the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority was started in 1995 when he was governor of Virginia.

He noted its growth, potential, wanting to work with its leaders to promote Wallops Island, and its help to diversify the economy and provide good paying jobs.

Gloucester Dutch Treat Lunch and Small Business Tour

Yesterday in Gloucester I has the opportunity to speak with families and small business owners concerned about the policies coming out of Washington and whether future generations will have the same opportunity to succeed that we had. Whether it’s our convoluted tax system, these counterproductive energy policies or the out-of-control government spending – the men and women of Virginia recognize that our nation is headed in the wrong direction and we need to change course.
