George Allen for U.S. Senate Announces “Sportsmen for Allen”

Henrico, VA – Today, the George Allen for U.S. Senate campaign announced “Sportsmen for Allen,” at Green Top Sporting Goods in Glen Allen, Virginia. Delegate John Cox (R-Hanover), Delegate Charles Poindexter (R-Franklin County) and Kirby Burch of the Commonwealth Sportsmen’s Alliance each touted George Allen’s long-standing track record of defending the Second Amendment as both a Governor and U.S. Senator.

“George Allen has been a friend and supporter of Sportsmen his entire political career.  When others challenged our rights to hunt, fish and the Second Amendment right to bear arms he has been with us,” said Kirby Burch. “He has been enthusiastic and unwavering in his efforts to help the Sportsmen of Virginia.  George Allen has earned our help in becoming U.S. Senator from Virginia in 2012.”

“George Allen has a long, consistent track record of defending the Constitutional rights of individuals to protect their family and themselves, and throughout his career he has been a steadfast supporter of the Second Amendment,” said Delegate Watkins Abbitt, who was unable to attend the press conference. “George Allen understands the need to target crime and criminals, not law-abiding citizens. I am proud to be a ‘Sportsman for Allen’ and I give him my full endorsement.”

“It is invigorating to be outside here at Green Top Sporting Goods and see the great support from my friends in Virginia’s sportsmen community,” said George Allen.  “I have always strongly supported the natural rights of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves, and I will continue defend our Constitutional right to own and carry firearms. The way to reduce crime is to crack down on criminals, not disarm our citizens, and I will fight against encroachment of any kind on our Second Amendment freedoms.”

George Allen has been a leader for more than three decades in defending our Second Amendment rights, consistently earning an A or A+ rating from the National Rifle Association.
