Small Business Leaders Endorse George Allen for U.S. Senate

Henrico, VA –Today, small business leaders from throughout Virginia threw their support behind George Allen for U.S. Senate because of his strong, proven track record of making Virginia “Open for Business!” and his pro-growth policies outlined in his Blueprint for America’s Comeback.

The business leaders endorsing George Allen today cited his successful record as Governor implementing policies that free businesses to invest, expand and hire, helping to create more than 300,000 net new private sector jobs during his tenure, his desire to unleash Virginia and America’s plentiful energy resources and repeal and replace the job-destroying taxes and regulations in ObamaCare.

“I support George Allen because he has the right plan to fix our economy and help small businesses, such as mine, survive. The fuel prices are ridiculously high, and when fuel prices go up, sales go down,” said Elizabeth Wright, owner of Foster’s Grille in Winchester.  “George Allen will fight to unleash our energy resources to lower costs so that families will have more money to spend at their local restaurants and stores. My husband and I have also always been self-employed and had to pay for our own health insurance throughout our careers, but now under ObamaCare paying for that insurance is becoming a problem.  I want George Allen in the U.S. Senate to be the deciding vote to repeal and replace ObamaCare and lift those burdens on small businesses like mine that are increasing costs and making it more difficult to hire employees.”

“I wholeheartedly support George Allen for U.S. Senate,” said Marti Meersman, President and CEO of Meersman Associates, Inc. in Lorton.  “As a small business owner in Virginia, I applaud his commitment to pro-growth fiscal and economic policies that will help businesses create jobs by keeping
taxes low and reducing intrusive bureaucratic over-regulation.”

“Most of my working experience has been with meeting the complex financial needs of American business,” said Ruble Hord of Northwestern Insurance Company in Richmond.  “The country and its business leaders need the practical approach to reining in big government spending, lowering taxes,
deregulation, and reducing dependence on foreign energy that George Allen will bring to the U.S. Senate.”

During George Allen’s tenure as Governor, Virginia was one of only two States in the nation to receive ‘Straight A’s’ from Financial World Magazine for sound fiscal performance, and in 1995 Virginia was recognized by Site Selection Magazine as one of the top ten places in the world to do business.
