We need fiscal accountability in Washington

In the past 3 years we’ve seen an explosion of federal government spending and expansion with the $800 billion dollar job-less stimulus, the $1.5 trillion government takeover of health care and overregulation that is burdening our private sector.  And how do liberal Democrats in Washington want to solve our spending problems?  With job-killing tax hikes that will hurt an already anemic economy and further hurt our recovery.  We need fiscal accountability in Washington and can look to President Reagan for guidance. In his farewell address to the American people, after 8 years of a successful presidency which reinvigorated America, Ronald Reagan said there were two things he wished he had had as president (and that he hoped future presidents—both Republican and Democrat—would obtain): the line-item veto and a constitutional amendment to balance the federal budget.  President Reagan understood that the only way to make Washington to live within its means is with a Balanced Budget Amendment.  We owe it to our children to make the tough decisions now so that their opportunities in life aren’t diminished in the future.
