Gov. McDonnell Resolution Calls for Constitutional Convention on Federal Balanced Budget Amendment

Today’s action proves once again that Governor McDonnell understands the frustration felt by Virginians who feel their voices aren’t being heard in Washington when they express concern about reckless, runaway spending.  I have always been an advocate for a States Initiative to allow the people in the states to initiate Constitutional amendments rather than waiting for Congress to act or necessitating a Constitutional convention.  Virginia and most other states have a legal requirement to balance their budgets and it’s time for the federal government to do the same.   It’s an idea I have always supported and will continue to fight for should I be entrusted to serve Virginians in the U.S. Senate.
