WEYERS CAVE — It’s up to the voters, not the polls or the media, to decide who will be the next president of the United States, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson told a crowd of more than 75 supporters Monday morning in Weyers Cave.
“We have worked too hard and come too far to let a bunch of pollsters and pundits call this election for us,” Thompson, a former candidate for the Republican nomination, said. “People are now focusing on what really is at stake at this election.”
In a last-minute push to rally voters, Thompson joined fellow Republicans former Gov. George Allen; Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell; 6th District U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte; and state Del. Chris Saxman, R-Staunton, at the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport as part of their multistate “Victory Fly Around” tour on Monday.
