Virginia drops from 3rd to 28th in number of women appointed by governor
The percentage of women serving in positions appointed by governors increased by 6. 8 percentage points nationally between 1997 and 2007, according to a new study, but in Virginia the number fell dramatically in the same period.
In 1997, under Gov. George Allen, Virginia was third in the nation in the number of women appointed to top-level executive positions — 46.7 percent.
In 2007, under Gov. Tim Kaine, that number was down to 33.3 percent, leaving Virginia ranked 28th nationally.
The report, “Glass Ceiling in Gubernatorial Appointments: 1997-2007,” was released by the Center for Women in Government and Civil Society at the University of New York at Albany. Click here for the full report.

And they say democrats are the party for women….

It figures. Many of the Democrats I’ve known have been chauvinists (e.g. Webb, Ted Kennedy); that Kaine has acted like one should come as no surprise.

And why are we as conservatives worried about the gender or color of appointees, instead of the quality of them? Kaine and the Democrats are hypocrites, we shouldn’t make ourselves into ones by measuring ourselves by their standards.
