McGrath Departs Today As County Circuit Court JudgeBy Pete DeLea
2/29/08HARRISONBURG - Surrounded by packing boxes, Rockingham County Circuit Court Judge John McGrath sat in his courthouse office Thursday reminiscing about the dozen years he served as judge.
Today, McGrath will hit the gavel and leave the bench, at age 65, for the last time as an official Rockingham County judge - although at times, he could be called in as a special judge.
“I wanted to retire when I still had my health, and my wife had her health, so we could do some traveling,” said McGrath, who has been to England several times, stopping in to see court action on every trip.
